Canfield is a shareholder of the firm and his practice concentration is in business matters, commercial real estate and loan transactions. He has extensive depth and experience counseling business owners on matters of entity organization and governance, negotiating resolution of ownership disputes and documenting agreements on ventures, acquisitions, financing and employment. He is also proficient in commercial real estate acquisition, financing and leasing, including tax-deferred exchanges of property. Outside of his law practice, Mr. Canfield is a director of Goodwin House Foundation, and previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Goodwin House, Inc., a leading continuing care retirement community in Northern Virginia. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Canfield received his undergraduate degree, with distinction, from the University of Virginia and his law degree from The College of William and Mary, where he was a member of the Law Review. He was a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Albert V. Bryan, Jr. of the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia before entering private practice in 1977. |
