James W. Korman is a shareholder of the firm. He is a widely recognized trial attorney with over thirty years of experience in domestic relations and personal injury matters.

Mr. Korman counsels and represents clients in all aspects of family law with particular focus on complex divorces involving the division of marital assets including stock options, pension plans, investment and business interests for high net worth individuals. Mr. Korman is able to apply his past experience in business, commercial and banking law to the benefit of his family law clients.

As a seasoned trial attorney Mr. Korman knows when to litigate, when to negotiate and when to mediate.

Mr. Korman is listed in "Best Lawyers in America" and is "AV" rated by Martindale Hubbell. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a Past-President of the Virginia Chapter; serves as an adjunct professor at George Mason University Law School teaching Trial Advocacy; and is a Neutral Case Evaluator for the Fairfax County Circuit Court. He has been designated as a Certified Matrimonial Arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Mr. Korman is a member of the American Association for Justice (formerly Association of Trial Lawyers of America) and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Past-President of the Arlington Bar Association and former Chair of the Virginia State Bar Committee on Women and Minorities.

Mr. Korman is consistently featured in both Virginia and Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers. He was recognized by the Washingtonian magazine in 2011 as a "Top Lawyer." In 2009, the Northern Virginia magazine listed him as a "Top Divorce Lawyer" and said, "He always tries to settle a case, but is not afraid to go to court," and "He is respected by fellow attorneys for his intellect, ethics and professionalism." Mr. Korman has lectured and written extensively on divorce and various civil litigation topics including aspects of family law, banking law, personal injury, discovery and privilege. His recent article, "Adultery and the Fifth Amendment," was published in the April 2012 issue of The Matrimonial Strategist. In April 2013, laws.com interviewed Mr. Korman on his work as a family law attorney in "Dissecting the Stigma of Family Law: An Interview with Jim Korman."
