James V. Irving is a shareholder with the firm. He has been a practicing attorney for more than 25 years, primarily in the areas of Corporate and Business Law and Commercial and General Litigation.

He has successfully served businesses in business counseling and formation; document drafting, including contracts; employment agreements, trade secrets, non-competition and non-disclosure agreements; purchase and sale agreements and related transactions; litigation; and appellate practice. He has handled appeals fully briefed and argued in the Supreme Court of Virginia, as well as jury and bench trials in Virginia Circuit Courts, Maryland Circuit Courts and before Maryland administrative bodies.

In 2010, Mr. Irving received the rating of "AV" Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest peer rating that is given.

Mr. Irving is active in the community and is on the Program and Distribution Committee of the Arlington Community Foundation and the Board of the Arlington YMCA. He also sits on the Green Committee of the Greater Washington Board of Trade. He is a past president of the Arlington Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Mr. Irving has conducted seminars on Starting a New Business and Employment Law and has authored numerous articles of related topics as well as regularly contributing to the firm’s Business Law Newsletter. In the September 2010 issue of Society for Human Resource Management, he published "Consider Legal Ramifications of Personal Guarantees."
