MARK BERTRAM OF BEAN, KINNEY & KORMAN APPOINTED CHAIR OF FAIRFAX BAR ASSOCIATION'S TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

Arlington, VA, August 18, 2010 - Bean, Kinney & Korman, one of Arlington's largest law firms and one of the most recognized independent law firms in Northern Virginia, announced today that Mark Bertram has been appointed as Chair of the Fairfax Bar Association's Technology Committee.  This committee educates the public and attorneys about technology and makes recommendations to the Fairfax County Courts and Fairfax Bar Association on how to better utilize technology.  Mr. Bertram will act as Chair for a one year term.

"It is a privilege and honor to be selected for this important role, " said Mr. Bertram.  "It's crucial for our legal system to understand the latest technologies and how they affect the legal community and how these technologies affect our clients."  "Two examples of technologies affecting world wide commerce and individual lives that were not available even a few short years ago are internet social networking and on-line banking.  The legal community needs to understand these technologies, how they benefit their clients as well as the risks associated with using these technologies."

Mr. Bertram has been a litigation and trial attorney for 9 years.  He is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and is also the creator and was the original trademark and copyright owner of "Digital Court."  The Digital Court concept was first created to utilize secure technologies in the transmission of documents between parties and the court system.

Mr. Bertram received the Fairfax Bar Association's 2010 President's Award for his dedication and service over the last year as the Vice-Chairman of the association's Technology Committee.  In this role, he worked closely with the Fairfax Court to support its efforts to bring several hi tech court rooms throughout the Virginia Court System on-line.  He also contributed to the Technology Committee's hands on hi tech courtroom CLE program.
