Lori K. Murphy is a shareholder in the firm and focuses her practice on land use, estate planning, and estate administration.

Ms. Murphy's estate planning practice includes individual planning and business succession planning. She assists clients with wills, powers of attorney, living wills, living trusts and special needs trusts. Representative clients include individuals, couples, families with special needs members and business owners.

Ms. Murphy’s estate administration practice includes the representation of executors and administrators who are administering decedent’s estates in Northern Virginia.

Ms. Murphy focuses on due diligence review of developable sites and the resolution of land use, planning and zoning issues. She is experienced in all aspects of land use, including prosecuting special use permit, rezoning, proffer amendment and comprehensive plan amendment applications. She appears before local land use committees, citizens groups, architectural review boards and local governing bodies. Ms. Murphy also assists her clients during the site plan review of a project, including the preparation of easements and bond applications. She is a LEED Accredited Professional with knowledge of the law as it relates to the design, construction and operation of green buildings. Representative clients include shopping centers, offices, banks, hotels, pharmacies, and other commercial and residential developers.

Ms. Murphy is also experienced in the creation of condominiums and the related condominium association entities. Ms. Murphy resolves matters affecting title to real property. Representative clients include individuals, community associations, cooperatives converting to condominiums, and condominium developers.

In December 2011, Ms. Murphy was interviewed by Northern Virginia Magazine for the article titled, "Family and All It Entails… Frozen Embryos and Furry Friends," where she discussed a case regarding frozen embryos in estate planning.

Ms. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. She received her law degree from the University Of Oregon School of Law (J.D., Business Law Certificate, 1998) where she also served as Associate Editor and Internet Editor of the Oregon Law Review.
