Maryland State Appellate CourtsThe Maryland Court of Appeals is the highest appellate court in Maryland. The Court of Special Appeals is the intermediate appellate court, created in 1966. There is an excellent overview of the entire Maryland Judicial Branch, which contained in the Overview section of the Court of Special Appeals website. There is also a detailed explanation of the form and function of the Court of Appeals on its website. The Robert C. Murphy Courts of Appeal Building is located in Annapolis, Maryland. From Washington, DC, take MD Route 50 East toward Annapolis. Route 50 starts as New York Avenue in the District, or can be accessed from the Beltway (I-495). Take the Rowe Boulevard exit toward Annapolis from Route 50. The Courts Building is about a mile or so on the right, just after the Naval Academy's football stadium.
