Timothy R. Hughes is a shareholder of the firm representing clients in construction and commercial litigation, and corporate, contracts, and general business matters. Mr. Hughes has extensive experience in litigation in both state and federal courts, as well as arbitration and mediation. Mr. Hughes is a LEED Accredited Professional, knowledgeable regarding sustainable design and construction.

In 2010, Mr. Hughes was recognized as a “Leader in the Law” by Virginia Lawyers Weekly and named a member of the Legal Elite for Construction Law in 2010 and 2011 by Virginia Business Magazine. He is a past-chair of the Construction and Public Contracts Section of the Virginia State Bar. He was named a member of the Best Lawyers in America in 2012 and 2013 in the areas of Litigation - Construction and Construction Law, and he is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Active in multiple community and association matters, Mr. Hughes is a board member of Leadership Arlington, the Reston Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and the Phoenix House of the Mid-Atlantic. He is chair-elect of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Hughes is a frequent speaker before a variety of groups on business, litigation, social media and construction related topics. He has published numerous articles in legal, professional and trade journals. Mr. Hughes is Lead Editor of the firm’s blog “Virginia Real Estate, Land Use & Construction Law” and is a regular guest blogger on the Washington Business Journal’s blog Biz Beat.
