Join NAIOP Northern Virginia on Monday, August 5 for Lunch with … Metro General Manager and CEO Richard Sarles and Metro Board Member and Arlington County Board Member Mary Hynes. Over the last three years, Metro has focused on rebuilding the system and restoring safe and reliable operations for customers through Metro Forward, its $5 billion-dollar, six-year investment program. While Metro is currently bringing the system back up to where it should be, the agency has also started planning for the future to ensure that Metro is able to carry the millions of additional riders who are expected to use the system in the future.
So far, Metro has talked to over 11,000 stakeholders to understand the region’s priorities. A set of common themes emerged and from these themes, Metro developed a staff draft plan, Momentum: The Next Generation of Metro. The draft plan starts with safety as the highest priority, and emphasizes the importance of maximizing the current transit network by utilizing every bit of capacity available. The primary goals of Momentum are the mass transit blueprint for our region through 2025 as Metro moves toward a seamless, multimodal, transit network. Sarles and Hynes will brief us on what this means for Northern Virginia, commercial property owners and the future growth of the region.
