Arlington, VA—Bean, Kinney & Korman announced today that James (Jim) Schroll has been recognized as a “Leader in the Law” honoree by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Each year, Virginia Lawyers Weekly presents this award to those in the legal field who are changing and advancing the law, improving the justice system, serving the community and setting the standard for other lawyers.

Jim, along with the other honorees, will be celebrated at a reception on Oct. 17 at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond.

“We are proud to see Jim’s work in and outside of the legal profession recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly,” said Leo Fisher, managing shareholder at Bean, Kinney & Korman.

Jim is a shareholder of the firm and practices in commercial litigation with an emphasis on bankruptcy and the enforcement of creditors’ rights. He was honored for his achievements as counsel on a number of high-profile bankruptcy litigation cases in Northern Virginia, as well as his experience giving back to the legal and local communities. Jim serves as an adjunct professor for “Secured Finance” at George Mason University School of Law and regularly teaches CLEs and writes articles on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights-related topics.

In addition to his service to the legal community, Jim serves as a member of the Board of Directors of a scholarship program, called the Stuart Educational Foundation. He also organizes and participates in Bean, Kinney & Korman’s volunteer efforts at the A-SPAN homeless shelter in Arlington.

Jim is the fifth attorney from Bean, Kinney & Korman to be honored with this award since 2008.
