Bean, Kinney & Korman's Raighne Delaney Named Leader in the Law by Virginia Lawyers Weekly

ARLINGTON, VA,—Bean, Kinney & Korman announced today that attorney and firm Shareholder Raighne Delaney was recently honored with the Leader in the Law award by Virginia Lawyers Weekly.

Each year, Virginia Lawyers Weekly presents this award to those in the legal field who are changing practice, advancing the law, improving the justice system and setting the standard for other lawyers.

Over the past year, Raighne was the lead counsel for the plaintiff in the first case tried under the new Virginia Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act that resulted in the 13th largest jury verdict in Virginia in 2008. Additionally, Raighne settled a case involving the sale of remote control bomb jammers to NATO for use in Afghanistan in the amount of $2.1 million that will be one of the largest settlements in Virginia in 2009. He is well known for handling complicated litigation in Northern Virginia.

Raighne has been a shareholder with Bean, Kinney & Korman since 2001. He practices in the area of civil litigation and has successfully prosecuted and defended numerous cases in real estate litigation, business litigation, government contracts and construction litigation. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland.

As part of Bean, Kinney & Korman’s effort to be in the forefront of the “Green” movement, Raighne became a LEED Accredited Professional in June 2009. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™, as defined by the U.S. Green Building Council is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

Finally, Raighne has served his community in several ways over the past year. He sits on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board that adjudicates ethical complaints against Virginia lawyers. He was appointed to this board by the Hon. Leroy Hassell, Sr., chief justice of the Virginia Supreme Court. Also, he sits on the Virginia Board of Correctional Education, which is the school board for the state prison system. He was appointed to this board by the Hon. Timothy Kaine, governor of Virginia. Finally, he serves as chairman of the Community Criminal Justice Board for Alexandria, Virginia.
