Bankruptcy and creditors' rights attorney James Schroll successfully defended Gateway Bank FSB in an Alexandria bankruptcy court, defeating a $4.5 million claim by arguing that a convicted mortgage fraudster's scheme did not constitute a Ponzi scheme and that the bank had no reason to suspect wrongdoing.
