Overview

Chris Young is a shareholder with Bean, Kinney & Korman, focusing his practice on corporate transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Chris assists companies and individuals across the nation with their legal needs related to operating their business and executing transactions. Keenly aware of the unique circumstances that businesses face and must consider—particularly businesses working with the government—he has helped numerous organizations navigate and avoid unnecessary risks and difficulties. Given his background and experience, Chris offers strategies specifically designed to help clients reach successful outcomes.

As part of Chris’ tax practice, he represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and state agencies. He advises clients on all areas of federal and state tax law, including audit investigations, offers in compromise and installment agreements (the IRS’ “fresh start” program), trust fund recovery penalty and officer liability matters, foreign bank account reporting and compliance, collection due process or equivalent hearings and other IRS Appeals matters, penalty abatement requests, innocent spouse relief, applications for tax-exempt status, and federal tax lien releases, discharges, and subordinations.

Corporate clients engage Chris on issues related to corporate sales and purchases, disputes, governance, formations, and restructurings, as well as drafting and reviewing corporate documents such as contracts and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, bylaws,  operating agreements, and partnership agreements.

Prior to joining BKK, Chris was a business and tax associate at three regional law firms. He began his career as a State Tax Law Editor at Bloomberg BNA. While in law school, he worked as a law clerk with the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division in the Financial Litigation Unit, and the Civil Litigation Sections.

Chris is barred in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland.

Beyond the Suit

Outside of the office, Chris loves spending time with his wife and two boys, going to concerts and traveling to new destinations. He also regularly cheers for the local Washington D.C. area sports teams and plays golf & skis (when possible).
