John Williams is a shareholder with Bean, Kinney & Korman, practicing in the areas of corporate law and real estate transactions. He helps businesses and business owners with complex transactions, including drafting and negotiating partnership agreements, investment agreements, and real estate development contracts.
John’s clients include developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and private lenders. He has an extensive background in strategically guiding his clients through acquisitions, sales, corporate governance, and real estate transactions and unique experience advising on all phases of development projects (acquisition, design, financing, construction, leasing, and sale).
John is admitted to practice in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and is a member of the business and construction law sections of the Virginia Bar.
Experience
- Represented local developer in the acquisition, redevelopment, and sale of a luxury condominium building located in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC. Negotiated complex construction financing secured by multiple commercial properties, and drafted all documents, establishing the condominium regime in compliance with the DC Condominium Act, while protecting the developer against unforeseen future liabilities.
- Represented family-owned regional homebuilder in their sale to a national private equity-backed real estate conglomerate. Negotiated all deal documents, including letter of intent, purchase agreement, equity reinvestment agreement, and executive employment agreements.
