Arlington, VA — Jonathan Kinney of Bean, Kinney & Korman will be recognized by the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) with the 2010 Affordable Housing Award for his numerous contributions toward housing in the community.

APAH is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing, preserving and owning quality housing that is affordable and enhances the Arlington County community. Mr. Kinney has spent his career as an attorney and a positive influencer, enhancing the Arlington Community through his practice that focuses on land use, zoning and local government, real estate services, wealth management and asset protection, wills, trusts and estates.

”We are honoring Jon for his leadership and commitment to keeping Arlington a diverse and inclusive community,” said Nina Janoapul, APAH President and CEO. “Jon’s vision has helped to assure that low income Arlington County residents will be able to live in the community where they work and that our elderly population will be able to find affordable rental housing in Arlington.”

“I am truly honored to accept this award from APAH,” said Jon. “I believe that it is extremely important that housing is affordable for the citizens of our community, and feel that it is a responsibility and a privilege to be able to assist in making it possible.”

Jon has used his experience and industry network to positively advocate for legislation as it relates to affordable housing, and negotiations on tenant relocation guidelines and affordable housing concessions. He also encourages developers to consider affordable housing in their projects.

Jon has dedicated his time and skills to numerous relevant housing organizations including the Arlington County Community Services Board, as both a member (1978-1984) and the chairman (1983-1984); Arlington Housing Commission, as the first chairman and a member (1985-1991); Arlington Home Ownership Made Easier, as co-founder and a member (1989-present); Arlington County Community Housing Financing Corporation, as a member (2006-present); Arlington Community Foundation, as trustee (1998-present); and Community Residences Foundation, as trustee (1998-present).
